Obviously depends on accuracy of tester but one I have measures about 17% on bone dry pine(the leg from a table inside the yard bought from B&Q)

Its Beech. I think £80 is cheap for even remotely dry wood this time of the year considering the work and investment that goes into it.

 

I have had a womble about the yard and have found 25 and 36 % surprising how dry it needs to be to get under 25% .

 

Pushing the pins in does increase the reading but not by much. best not to beat that chinese meter about too much me thinks:lol:

Is there a difference on the reading if you test a freshly split inside face?

These were in billets and just cut the fresh face is 22% Busted, but lets face it a weeks time it will all be 20% . Are these bad logs or am I talking to log perfectionist if I am they are not from my part of the world after what I have seen this winter.

Be careful of getting it through ebay direct from china has a habit of not turning up for weeks and then having import duty.
