I did this with my Chinese top handle and it would not run at all after. I had to strip the carb and clean it all out with carb cleaner before it would offer to run.

Cleaned up and got her running without too much smoke!

2 issues, not all the chain oil is going along the chain, should there be some kind of gasket between the bar and the oil hole.

Will not idle well, there is a leak in the purge bulb, will this effect running same as air leaks elsewhere or is the purge isolated from the carb when running?

Sorry numpty questions.

TIA

It depend where the leak is. I'm not familiar with the saw, is the purge  bulb mounted on the carb or remote? does the carb have a check valve? The saw  I had with a failed check valve filled the bulb with bubbles when it ran.

Leak is right at buib, bulb is piped to carb, no idea what valves in place.

So two pipes to bulb, the saw should still work if you clamp shut the pipe from the carb to the bulb

Purge bulbs are pretty easy to replace, just make sure you get the lines back in the right order.

Regarding the bar oil leak, to see if all parts are there, you are best to check the assembly diagram online for your model of saw.  Also get the saw and bar spotlessly clean and check that the face plate is flat and sealing properly.  Confirm its the right type of bar and correct number of chain links for the bar.  Also check that the bar oil holes line up - a good technique is to make paper or cardboard copies of the bar

With my 352, so a similar saw, it doesn't have anything between the bar and plastic case. The gap between the oil hole and the chain channel can block so I give it a good clean and blow out.

It's only a small saw so you don't get a great oil flow but it'll splatter a bit of oil from the top of the bar if tested.
