Neighbour just put oil in fuel tank and fuel in oil tank. He then tipped out and replaced, then ran. Very smokey and lacking power.

Having not stripped and cleaned an echo any tips and mistakes to avoid?

Oil tank will be fine, cleaner than normal! If its been left in for any time, it might not do the rubber parts any good as they wont be petrol spec.

Petrol tank, rinse out with fresh 2t mix and discard, purge bulb a few times, discard, repeat and discard. Shouldnt have done any harm.

Note that the oil fuel mix is great to keep for cleaning bars and chains.

Not sure how that helps ….

Aspen in the oil tank and oil in the fuel tank is the same situation as the OP….. only more expensive.

As above, flush out the tank a few times, pump the purge bulb if there is one and run it until the smoke clears.  Then Id maybe check the plug is clean.

If it is running, then - assuming you have done this anyway - flush the tank out, I'd also change the pickup filter, but if it is running now, after that I'd just give it a good run till it behaves. No spark arrestor on the exhaust? If there is might be work a clean too once it stops smoking as much.

Aspen do bio oil that's thinner and would flush it out ,aspen 2 in the fuel tank to clear that out if he's fkd up like my groundy  did.

I myself have put diesel in a efco 131 chainsaw and still ran on it ..that was the bosses fault for putting  everything in 20l  green cans in a dark garage unclearly labelled..

That was my f up though ...but hevshouldnt have been a knob!
