Does anyone make a grinding disk that doesn't leave horrendous burrs?

Generally in tool and cutter grinding if you want to avoid burrs you reverse the grinding wheel spin direction so that you are grinding into the cutter not away from it.  Don't know if a reversible spindle is available in chain grinders, certainly not on the basic Oregon that I have.

The burrs would peel off on the first cut, should make no difference. As above, you generally get the burrs on one side only.

It would not be difficult to add a reverse switch on the motors, they are just universal DC or SP induction on the better ones.

Probably but many years ago I was taught to file the Danarm 110 with .404 teeth with a file holder that had a plastic knob at the blunt end. This was for tapping the burr off each tooth after it had been sharpened. The reason given at the time was that the burr was the chrome plating on the tooth, to leave it there would cause it to peel off. It certainly isn't the case now, whether the tooth forming process at manufacture is better now I don't know.

Taught to do the same? Still do it now out of habit. Anything to give a longer lasting “edge”? And it doesn’t take long.
