Stihl ms 180

Hi, I have been cleaning a Stihl Ms 180 chainsaw, and I can't figure out where a part goes when reassembling. Please see picture  attached. The little plastic cover next to the chainsaw (I think) goes under the chain somewhere, but I'm not sure. I did try putting on the chain and cover, but when. I make the 2 nuts tight, the chain bar is not held steady. Thanks for any help.

I’m not familiar with that saw, but it looks like half a cover for the chain brake assembley.

its the air baffle, sits inbetween the air filter box and the cylinder

There's a cover missing for the chain brake if my stihl is the same.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I thought it should be covering that long spring in the photo, because looking at other MS 180's in YouTube,  when the chain is off,.you don't see that spring. I did try to fit the cover over the spring,  but it doesn't seem to fit anywhere around there. As regards being between the air filter box and the cylinder, I'll take off the that box and see if it fits in there. Thanks.

You definitely need one of these mate.

Fortunately a cheap part.

Get bolts as well.

O Yea, looks like I do need that spring cover. Thanks.  Chris, I see this diagram that includes the air baffle plate. In this link attached, it's the first diagram at the top, and the plate is number 7. I can't  work out the exact location of the plate. I removed the black air filter box. Anything else I need to remove.

the bottom cut out sits over the inlet manifold item 16 and the top cut out it for access to the spark plug, there are 2 little spring tabs on the air baffle, they are flimsy and usually snap off that hold it onto the white main body of the saw. If i had this series of saw in id take a pic for you but unfortunately i dont.

Ok, finally! See attached photo. The baffle plate is (kind of) in place now, It may need to be pushed down a bit more, but  I'm nervous about breaking the little tab at the bottom left...or is there a way to wiggle it into place?  Thanks!
