Pear tree trimming

Hi,

does this pear tree need cutting back a bit or should it be left alone?

(it’s just in front of the shed bottom right, so I guess about 10 meters tall)

Do consider the fact we haven't actually stood in your garden, looking at the tree. If we need to wade, balls deep, through brambles to even get to the tree, avoid dog shit, drag arisings through the house, or any other such surprises, don't be surprised if the price goes up.

Someone will be along in a minute to tell us that they would do it for a grand, as they have a couple of hundred grands worth of machinery at their yard. Then we will have the full compliment of made up prices. 😁

Access is a dream.

Shed is close as is boundary with next door. Access would be ok if needed there.

No other obstacles or pets.

What wood?

The branches up there can’t be any thicker than 2 inches can they?

Yeah, but stick 'em all in a pot of gritty compost, give them a bit of bottom heat (oo er, missus), and they'll all turn into new pear trees! It's like printing money!

No, it isn't, sorry. I'm afraid I'm wallowing deep in a farce. (But you absolutely can grow pear trees from rooted cuttings, you'll not make much money though!)

 

Others' prices are about what I'd charge, but I'd probably wander around in the garden for a few minutes while there to look at the job and suggest other things to make a whole day of it, as I work alone and tend not to do half days or quick jobs on the way home. 

 

Mulching and feeding is a great thing to do for pear trees at this time of year, especially after a good hard prune. I'd offer to do that. If you have any other fruit trees or bushes, I'd fill time by doing all of them.
