here's a knot i've been using on my hitch climber which is a variation of the knut (or at least its simillar) can any one id it or is it my own creation?

on the second picture the right hand side rope should pass under the rope that goes to the left to be a distel

 

yeah your right, its a distel tyed wrong then haha, I have done the same thing and it works as a friction hitch quite well, grabs nicely but doesnt "break" like a v.t, making it slightly harder to advance.

Would prefer it on a lanyard rather than main line.

it works safely imo, it is slightly harder to advance than other knots but it always grips the rope (unlike some other knots) and who sais i shouldnt be using it.
