It's still down to tanker drivers to fill or not to fill. So if it looks old and possible it may leak they want fill it.

We've had the same delivery company for years and they have never raised any concerns.  But as part of my work I will make the tank look a bit smarter - new sight guage, clean up the cap and a bit of paint.

Go steady on wire brushing, old boy in my village srart tidying up oil tank landed up putting a hole in it.

this is probably obvious, but always works a lot better to put the biocide in as a preventative rather than cure.  some say they cure it, but once the algae stuff has grown you might need to kill it then filter the fuel.
