These 36v combi ones are good for long reach but a bit unwieldy. The 18v medium reach is a good all rounder but won't cut as thick.

The small 18v posted earlier is good for neat trimming of leylandii but not for thick stuff. I still wear ear defenders as they won't do your hearing any good long term although the 36v is the quietest.

DUN500W yes.

I've done a couple of bay, a privet, trimmed wisteria with mine in the last week so I find it really useful - but it wouldn't be any good as an only trimmer as it won't do the heavier stuff. 23mm might be the spec because it's the gap between blades but it doesn't have the power to cut that thickness.

Im still considering the Makita, or one of the other power tool brands. The Milwaunkee is listed as 25mm cut diameter. However for now I decided I also want a strimmer/brushcutter and polesaw, and I like the idea that extensions are available to increase the reach to 4m or so. I have ordered a cheap multitool. Already have one of these 52cc engines for an earth auger and although heavy, they do work. Should have plenty of power.

Great prices on your favourite Gardening brands, and free delivery on eligible orders.

Whole kit is cheaper than a branded hedger attachment.

I'll experiment powering it with a brushless chainsaw.
