Question
Trevor Allen
Hello,
I have a 50+ year old Bullace tree in my garden, My Dad plated it in 1969 in a hedge. The tree is partly overhanging a small lane, it has had lots of small Yellow fruits, some tiny leaves were almost reaching a Telephone wire on the opposite side of the lane, My Neighbour has just had tree cutters (14th October 2024) who have cut off branches up to 4 inches in diameter from the tree along with some flowering Ivy on which were many Hoverflies and Wasps etc. I have just read tips on pruning Plum Trees.and I am worried they have harmed it by not doing it at the correct time. He pruned it in January 2022 because he said it overhanged his garden Old cut Jan 2022 (G) this branch now removed (F). Any coments please.
Will my tree get infected with Silver Leaf Fungus ?
and
What is the result of stimulating new growth in the dormant period.?
and
What other damage may have been done by pruning in October.?
Trevor
