after reading some of these posts i agree with the local dealer thing .at the end of the day these people are there for you on the day you need that spare part asap to keep you going,it wont take long for that saw at say £400 to pay for itself they still have to pay wages like all of us and genral building bills etc.

they should not be forced into making only, say 1% on a saw if they can make 20%.

same as a tree jobs why make £50 if you can make £100 ?

You might find that one dealer is buying off the other anyway, so cannot match them on prices.

What you need is a 5 star dealer, that distributes to the other dealers around. These are the ones that do the best discount. In the south west I believe its George carrs and sons in bristol. All other retailers around me buy from them and not directly from stihl.

With the exception of lister wilder in cirencester who as a company buy enough products to get them directly form stihl.

Same with Honey brothers etc.

So a lot of Stihl dealers dont buy direct from Stihl but from 5 star dealers?

Great if your a 5 star dealer but not so otherwise, maybe Stihl should change that policy if they want better deals for there dealers.
