I wouldn't be so quick to assume that - wasn't there a relatively famous Russian guy who did that sort of thing until he (unsurprisingly) fell to his death?  There was/is a whole raft of them that seem to climb up old cold-war installations etc.

Similarly, whilst I agree that wind increases with altitude, I climbed the Matterhorn back in the early '80s and it was flat calm when we finally reached the summit.  That was effectively a ifetime ago - just looking at that image made my stomach turn!
