Decent chimney hoover

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

as the title suggests I'm currently looking for a new hoover (for sweeps on 3 flues plus regular Esse 990 and Froling S4 servicing)

I've had a couple in the past but even though designed to cope with soot neither really stepped up to the mark and soon lost their suck.

Thought this maybe a good place to ask for recommendations before trawling a market I know nothing about

Many thanks,

Matt

I only sweep the one chimney but I have an early Henry . The one with the 2 speed button . Its all it gets used for . I always have a bag fitted to stop it clogging up though .

Me too. Old Henry's are the way to go. We used to have a professional sweep before I started doing it myself and I saw that he also used a Henry, that said something to me. The bags for them are cheap as chips so there's no reason not to use them.

Third vote for a Henry - no coincidence that soot hoovers are the same type.

However soot = hoover killer. For my stove I'll put in a paper supermarket carrier bag which catches most soot, wrap it up and in the bin (or in the fire pit and put a match to it - soot burns pretty well, slow burner but load of heat)
