Hi I’m a 21 year old from West Yorkshire and I’m really intrigued and interested in becoming a tree surgeon I know this might be a big ask but would anyone be willing to take me on or even let me volunteer on my days off to gain some knowledge and experience in the trade while I save up for the course

Get yourself super fit and flexible.

It's a must.

Cycling, running, swimming what ever but you need to be hard as phook.

Bendy Wendy is the key, do some yoga .

It's not about being a massive weight pumped ( it helps) but you need to be having things like arms and legs well attached...

Hope that helps

Anyway, for the OP.
This question pops up quite often.

General consensus is that (failing someone on here offering you a few days) you’re best off contacting firms direct, explain the situation and get a few days in dragging brush and generally getting a feel for it before committing.

It’s not Gladiators.

Nope but serious injuries occur with the unwashed and lax lazy mutha kers .

It's a must to have good botty retention for lifting and bending.

If any time is to be spent on days off not licking wounds from the week gone by then being super fit does achieve this.

Being seized up on a weekend is no fun so in order to have personal time moving around etc it's Definitely a must.

If you work full-time then you should know this

Are you ‘hard as phook’ and super fit then?

Dare I ask what ‘botty retention’ is?

Can cycle all day, swim miles and run a few.

Do bends at night yoga style and keep my arse inside when I lift heavy items.

Been cutting tree and climbing for 32years.... Still going...

So yes I'm fit strong and pretty hard compared to a lot more than half my age...

Ah right, that's fair enough. Not the most elegant of phrasing, but absolutely a good point.
