Hi,I bought this saw 30 years ago and have used it for cutting firewood ever since, it cuts well for a small saw starts with seven or eight pulls from cold if I leave it on idle it will just keep running,warm it starts with one pull.My question is it's really easy to pull and seems to be getting easier I did a compression test and its 145 psi I took the muffler off and there is marking on the piston.I checked the guage with another guage and its reading correctly.If I tried to lift the saw by the cord I cant do it the cord just comes out.Can anyone tell me why the reading is relatively high but the compression seems from the cord to be so bad?

45cc clamshell engine aimed at the farmer market, bigger brother of the 40, Jonsered did a 50cc version, 145psi is reasonable, if as you say it starts, runs, and idles ok why are you worried about it? Might be interesting to see some pictures of the piston through the open exhaust port.

30 years is a pretty good saw life on a relatively cheap saw like this. 145psi just shows the saw has seen a bit of life. As ADW said, pop up some pics of the piston through the exhaust port so we can see the state of it.

You may try fitting a new piston but up to you.
