Good morning, hope you’re all managing to stay warm. I’m looking for a little bit of advice, what are peoples thoughts about pruning and reducing eucalyptus in these cold conditions? Thanks.

I have always found Eucalyptus to be quite hardy and they they prefer to be pruned during the winter otherwise they can be very sappy from spring onwards and tend to die back from the pruning wound. I would be carful how much is taken off in one go as the new growth will tend to grow straight up , which make the tree look odd.

Thanks for the reply. That was my thoughts exactly, but I’m still new in the game. I’m trying to do my research and get advice before doing so I continue to learn an offer for the best results. As for the straight stems. The tree got pruned a few years back and that’s all it’s done is sent up loads of straight stems so that’s what I’ve been asked to  rectify
