Crushed lime tree root barrier

Question

Posted

HELP!

My house has subsidence and the insurance company has decided (after 5 years since the original claim) that digging a trench 3m deep and layering crush lime and soil will be an effective solution to stop my house moving, I have five large mature field oak trees 10m away from my house. I cannot find ANY information on this type of root barrier or any statistic as to its success! Can anyone shed any light on this for me?  Thanks

Interesting. Kind of like a geological root barrier?

how long ago was the house built? How far away from the trees or house are they proposing this trench?
