stihj ms 362 no spark

i am stumped  first i replaced sparkplug still no spark tested the two wires with meter all good removed coil and cleaned all parts still no spark got new stihl ignition module part No.1140-400-1302 and give my stihl dealer S/N 17163674 of the saw still no spark the air gap is 0.008 to 0.012 put drill on it to spin it faster nothing so got a flywheel from a mate and it come off a working saw still no spark everything is spotless  need help from you lads out there thanks petefran

Sometimes the magnets on the fly wheel can loose their poke .....

So. it's had two new plugs (the original and the new replacement)

 

It's had two new flywheels (the original and your mates replacement)

 

Its had two new modules (the original and the new replacement)

 

You have tested the switch wiring

 

Did the ht lead come with a new coil or did you have to unscrew and reuse the original?

 

Have you tried it without the ground lead on the module connected?

 

Is the ignition switch when in the on position clearing the brass earthing strip positively- not all lose so when you pull the machine over it can wobble and earth it out?

did all the above that you have mentioned i have being working on saws 45 yrs this is the first one that has stumped me thanks for the reply much appreciated petefran but i must be missing something i will keep at it no surrender will tell you if i get it to run all the best

Well, there isnt a lot left with the electrics.....i know you said youve changed the plug, but years ago a similar issue arose with me. Spent ages testing all the electrics...to the plug out held it up against the body of the machine...great spark couldn't find anything else awry, so went back to the plug....this time no spark..changed plug and away it went. When i inspected the original plug if i held it up...great spark, but if i held it with the electrode facing downwards the internal insulator had broken away from the central core, slid down the copper core shaft and made contact with the electrode and cut the spark. Never come across it before and never since, but its always something i now check.

Put the borrowed flywheel back on your mates saw, check it still runs and then swap your bits out one by one on his saw until it fails and won't run.

Flywheels that get clouted can lose their magnetism, is the coil gap OK, is the key OK, have you checked the good coil from the plug cap to the coil metal laminate and compared it to yours? 

What you are coming across is impossible, there will be a logical reason it isn't working.

I had the be exact same issue with a Rockwood plug on an MS200....POS plugs!!!
