Anyone got any ideas?

 

Doesn't engage gears and won't move forward or backwards 

 

2003 automatic disco

 

I have checked it hasnt slipped out of hi

 

What could this be? And how much to repair?

Have you checked props and half shafts?

the Govnor in back of gearbox used to give trouble in the d1.

also check the selector cable hasn’t given up/stretched

have you checked the XYZ switch on top of the gearbox?

 

they are known to have issues on the auto

 

i went through 2 of them when i had mine

Could be, I think it would be throwing up the M & S lights on the dash though, mine has just had xyz switch repaired (£600 for a new one!). OP- when you select from neutral to drive does it register it on the dash screen?

Yeh I must be blind but I've had a good look under and found a nice little leak just above ish the gearbox

 

It's a completely stock disco 2 (for now) 

 

I haven't thought of the xyz switch or the transfer cable so thanks for those shouts

 

I will let you know tomorrow if the dash screen changes when I select gears

Air con drains pretty much on to the xyz switch which causes alot of the problems- not the finest idea landrover have had. You can take them apart clean them all up and reseal which is what mine has just had done- works fine now.

What colour leak?  If its atf it should be red- always hard to tell with leaks though
