been mentioned a couple of times above, batteries!! Build quality should be similar, but if your mate is considering other battery kit in the future try to get a compatible system.

 

Real shame they arn't standardising batteries yet

The Makita combi 36volt is pretty good- with and extra mid extension it can reach high- but quite heavy and bit wobbly with the extra pole.

I totally agree about the stihl motors in the hla 85/86 , we have three sets and have had a least 10 motors  in three years , great when they work but not good enough for a pro tool, I have invested a lot in stihl battery kit but I’m considering changing to the husky long reach , I would like to know how the husky’s hold up they look more robust,
