Photo requests

I'm putting a document together to briefly explain tree biomechanics and would like some lovely photographs to illustrate a few points - so as I'm paying the price now for never buying a good camera, I though I better cast my net in the webs best waters.

I need photo examples of:

  • The axiom of unifom stress - perhaps a nice bit of adaption around an object, preferential callus on a pruning cut etc.

  • The law of the minimal lever arm - I'd love a classic topped out pine!

  • Self optimisation - I have a few of these but some nice reaction wood shots would be helpful.

Thanks in advance gang. :D

i have an ash to work on tommorow that needs a limb off, nothing huge but there is reaction wood, almost like a spli in the fork. easy to see in 30 year old ash, if you want mega reaction wood then there is a larch up the back of my house that is 4 times the base to what it is 6 feet up, it is almost square if you know what i mean, i can soon get a pic of that. look up dave d thread about stones in walls, he had an amazing pic of a dyke embedded in a beech and bob has loads of topped chrimbo trees in his gallery lol

I love the third shot, the way the tree uses objects to lean on!

There is a Poplar round the corner from me leaning on a brick pillar like its resting an elbow - I'll get a picture for you today Tony :thumbup1:
