Is this tree sick, dormant dead or.....

Hello,

 

I wanted to get some advice about a tree outside my mums block in North London.

 

 

I don't know what type of tree it is. It starts off with small white-yellowish blossoms which face up/outwards. 

Then in summer it produces clumps of small red fruit/berries which the birds love and pigeons perform all sorts of stunts to get the last ones at the end of the thinnest twigs.

 

Last year (2022) the leaves didn't look too 'enthusiastic' and it didn't bloom as much as I remember it did. Then in summer there were hardly any fruit/berries and it seemed to start shedding its leaves earlier than usual.

 

It does have moss like coverage on the upper branches/twigs which I don't remember when I first noticed it but I'm sure it has had it over a couple of winters. But it doesn't look like it has got worse.

It has survived all the winds/storms (last Jan the tree next to it fell over in the winds) and no branches have broken off or anything like that.

 

But it hasn't sprouted any buds/leaves yet while the next tree along which I believe is the same has.

 

So I would appreciate any help identifying the problem if there is one. The Housing Ass are not green and haven't replaced any trees lost which it promised to nor replaced shrubbery/plants destroyed by its cowboy grounds maintenance contractor. So I don't want my mum to lose this tree as 3 have been lost in the last 5 years in the immediate area.

I've taken pics today.

The are some cracks in the trunk and an exposed area which doesn't look good 😟

It is in a grassy area adjacent to the block but the base is about 1 meter from a lamppost.

There are 2 other trees the same and the one which came down last year was also next to a lamppost. I think that was a contributing factor as the crown was really big.

Looks like a rowan to me, not long lived and susceptible to a bacterial disease, fire blight,especially with stem damage like shown.

Ok thanks. Aha, yes just googled it and it looked just like the pics shown for a Rowan.

No point the Housing Ass that supposedly manages doesn't care much and is in no way proactive.

The tree that fell was left against the building and blocking a residents window for 2 weeks.

We are the contractors for the biggest HA in london so potential for me to help.

Does their name begin with a H?

The Housing Ass here is abysmal - they only have a 1.3 trustpilot rating because you can't leave zero and a couple of people have rated contractors doing work in their homes on the wrong page.
