I saw it was up for grabs on Forestry Journal. I contacted my favourite provider (parkhill training) about doing the felling course through them. They got back to me next day 10th February. I sat down to fill the form in just to be told all the funding had gone. 🤨

I’m wondering if it is linked to government funded apprenticeship schemes including those run by Forestry England who is now a DfE approved apprenticeship employer delivering a Level 2 Forest Operatives Apprenticeship.

Just picked this up, there's a few of us providers to my knowledge have had trainees through the Forestry Training Fund. There's quite a long list of registered providers with the project. Unsure if the FTF will be publishing any reports on the success of the first year of funding, would be good if they did to show the spread of uptake across the country.

The Forestry Training Fund has now become the Forestry and Arboriculture Training Fund with Aerial courses becoming available for funding. The Fund is due to reopen later this month so do keep an eye out for this. We haven't been told how much funding will be available so no idea how quickly it will be spent. The candidates we have had through from the previous registrations seem to have found the process easy. So probably worth a look if you are looking to get into the industry or taking next steps in your career.

We are a registered training provider for the scheme on the Devon/Cornwall border with training taking place in West Devon and East Cornwall.

I put in an application for the Forestry and Arboriculture Training Fund last week and I was approved funding for a climbing and aerial rescue course, which I am pretty excited about. I didn't think I would get the funding as people have said the funding goes quite quick.

Get signed up to the Forestry Commission emails and then you will know when/if they reopen. Training providers are not informed when but last time they did let us know when it was 'soon'. Current training has to be done by 31st March 2025, so probably won't open until after that.
