It would help to know if the wood won't split as it is rock hard or spongy. Some Elm I have had has been like concrete so may be a good call from that point of view.

I guess we won't find out!

Yes, I would call it 'habitat' and pop it by the wildlife pond.

What does that block burn like? If it burns OK, get it covered, all dry and do that, if it doesn't then let the beetles eat it.

 

I don't get too fixated about the type of wood I burn,. but mrs gets fixated whether the house is warm or not

Aye exactly. I was mainly just curious. Tbh I'll split it up when I'm feeling it and burn it all next year around.
