People also dont tend to stop now because of the sueing culture. If you administer first aid and the relatives think you made them worse how do you stand.

This is not going to sound very public spirited but I know someone who is a paramedic if you arrive at an accident and someone is wondering around, dont put them in your vehicle. When the emergency servs turn up they will ask casualty any pain? . If they say their back hurts the fire brigade will cut your roof off to get them out on a board and your insurance wont pay out Happens all the time.

unfortunately too true steve. as if we dont have enough to worry about at work with red tape and people trying to leach off of us, now we have to worry about what we do in normal day to day things. what has this world come to when you cant even help someone without dreading the consequences. sad very sad.

As long as you were acting bona fides in the believe that you were helping, you would be classed under the law as a 'good samaritan' and therefore immune from legal action. No genuine 1st Aider has ever been successfully sued.

I think some people are genuinely too afraid of what they might see, which does'nt make them bad people. I'd always try to do what I could to improve the chances for those involved. I helped a biker pick his bike up after he'd come off 20metres in front of me just the other day.

I havnt come across as acident but i know i would stop, also on the first aid front, i am first aid trained through st johns and as part of that qualification you are insured which could be useful!

 

What annoys me is people around my age 16-20 not helping old people. I have been stood at the bus station before now at college kicking out times and a old biddy had fallen over, people were just looking at her and not helping her up even though she was obviously trying to stand up and was unable to.
