Old McCulloch chainsaw identification

have been gifted a old McCulloch chain saw which I would like to get running. I have changed the plug and cleaned the air filter but no joy. I cannot locate any serial no. There is a sticker on the handle with the following reference 60015007 and 13-010130 but I think these are suppliers reference no’s. The saw was supplied by a UK company but they have not been helpful. I attach some photos. It would be most helpful if anyone can advise of the model no so I can source spare parts. I have also sent a query to McCulloch but no response yetCADFE8FC-FEF8-4424-9DB8-BCC1B5F4A331.thumb.jpeg.4b9c287d91a82a795a8b7fe99f8f7428.jpeg9EA63AD3-43EB-4FE3-B123-B2D05B09F510.thumb.jpeg.25284f76e9c7a56d35af75c18885f353.jpeg

Good luck, getting anything other than a spark plug and a fuel filter for the power head though.....all pretty much obsolete now

Finding the parts is the fun bit…  although it gets easier if you not averse to looking ‘stateside’.

I know from experience though, that paying the shipping requires a significant level of enthusiasm though!

...but they're still obsolete from McCulloch. New old stock may be found via a dealer or specialist, or good used. But still not produced new any more.

Well yes.  But if you want to limit yourself to boring new of the shelf bits, you can do what everyone else does and just buy a new of the shelf saw.

Not exactly that much of a hobby is it.

I have plenty of ‘current’ says, but spending money on repairing them is just part of the job, it’s rarely fun.

Getting something like a Homelite VI super-mini SL back from the dead and giving it a jolly good thrashing is much better!

That wasn't really my point. I said, all parts are pretty much obsolete now, which would save the poster time going down the route of approaching a McCulloch dealer, because my meaning of obsolete, is a part (or parts) that has ceased production by the original machine manufacturer

I obviously realise NOS parts are sometimes available, as are good used or even pattern parts if you are lucky.

Sorry.  Missed you point completely.

It certainly won’t be the last time.

Interestingly, the mighty Chinese reverse engineering machine has become aware of manufacturing parts for obsolete saws.   They are normally not expensive, and delivery can be peanuts.

Never really sure of the quality though.  Sometimes it’s amazing, sometimes it’s… er … astonishing.

I find it’s best to order far more units than you need, and do the QC yourself so you can select the bits to use, and the bits to reject!

When Tecumseh went tits up, we still had relatively new machines coming in for carb bits, but we couldn't find any- NOS or pattern back then. However some of the bits you can get pattern now.....but now the machines are so old and near worthless, there's no demand for the parts!
