HI,

I' m an out of work climber not having much luck in the area im living in. I have a friend in surrey, he's a sole trader in the hedgelaying game. He trying to convince me to relocate near his area so we partner up on his patch. He has a few climbing work here and there but his bread and butter is hedge laying.

So my question to you folks is, is it worth it?

Hedge laying needs to be done because you love doing it. Yes you can earn a living but most will tell you it’s a modest one so if you don’t enjoy doing it your stuffed!

also like climbing it will take you at least a couple of year to become good enough at it to earn decent money in my mind. Have seen many learn the craft there are only a few that pick it up and run with it from day one

It’s only a 4/5 month season isn’t it? What you going to do the rest of the year? It’s not as if you can start off in the south and work north to Scotland as the region comes into play like sheep shearing🤔. I suppose if you can earn £300 a day gardening down south like some on here apparently do then you can take the rest of the year off.
