At a pub in Lewes. Fruit too small to be apple and doesn't look like crab apple either

It looks like one of the many dwarf apples in the Malus domestica family, at a guess I would say ‘Spartan’.

Definitely apple, I'd say. Ornamental crab apples come in all sorts of colours and I've seen some with fruits smaller than that. Very early for any kind of apple, though.
