my simple question, how do you go about becoming an assessor for 30 31 etc

ring nptc and talk to them!

 

youl have to fill out the forms and do two observations of assessments.

fill out more forms and then get a technical evaluation.

fill out more forms and go on a training session

fill blah blah.........and organise/carry out some assessments under observation from the technical verifier

thats about it in a nutshell, tho im sure sum bighead will say different!

you also need the backing of your local assessment centre, altho iv been waiting for mine to sort things out for over two years now!

 

its not a bad thing once your in, youve just got to get in!!

thanks john. but what do you mean by the backing of the local ass centre? and why has it taken 2 years for you to get that far,? any help will be usefull, thankyou.

the local assessment centre is supposed to support your application to nptc, such as helping you generaly, signing paperwork, sorting out assessments and giving you future work etc. i first applied over two years ago, and am still waiting for the a.centre to sort things out, i have heard on said grapevine that you dont need a centre, not sure how true tho.

there is also a bit of a stall on new assessors at the mo tho, so that probably isnt helping.

ive heard several diffrent ways on getting into it, tho im more interested in training so assessing will be more of a sideline for me, its very useful to have as you kno what the reqd standards are.

just contact the nptc offices and they willsort you out

who are you planning to assess for

all assessments are booked through an assessment centre so contact the one you plan on assessing for and see what they think

If you become a Lantra Trainer you can have the "other" NPTC Assessor box ticked at the same time by the Verifier. May also be a quickier but slightly more expensive route

I would like to be an nptc assessor my qualifications are cs 30, 31, 32, 34, 35, 50, chipper. Also I hold Cert-ed, B-ed, Pg-cert (M) level and Mifl D32 D33

and a fully qualified assessor for City Guilds CITB

 

Done observations waiting for tec eval booked 4 day course but what is the course details and do I have to do it all with what I hold

Nptc are currently going through a change with joint training & assessment as apossed to being solely the certification body
