A rather pointless exercise really, just vanity and settling for something that will ultimately be less practical/robust than putting a proper tipper bed on.

i think the whole point of this type of conversion is so we city arbs can run around in a nice looking vehicle with the family and kids, go to asda's, the pictures and then look at a job on the way home and look professional, then the next day, clip on the TW, go to said job, make do with the kit they have and go home. there will be compromise, like any vehicle or type of kit, but anyone thinking this grand will replace an ifor tipper or 3.5ton tipper then do not apply. But self employed climbers that want to take some firewood home, go for it:thumbup1:

very good, though did notice on the flashplayer clip the guy dumping the topsoil - soil got stuck behind the wheel arches

Tim he's just dumped 2 tones in 20 seconds or so, that's got to be better then shoveling it out!

We could make some profiles to try and prevent it but wouldn't want to limit loads space. It's something to find an answer to though.

 

Having read threw this, I do like the idea of it, As said if the price is right im sure you'll have a que a mile long mate!!

I hope it wont. The American trucks have higher GVW, such as the Ford F250 series of between 4 and 4.5T, The uk type pickups are only about 3T GVW/1T payload but then you've not got tacho and different licences to worry about and you have an all in one vehicle. Being realistic We'd like to be inside 120kg for the whole job, hydraulic oil, steel, tipping gear, power-pack.

 

Well I just put my tuppence in, but in reality I'm not likely to ever want such thing and if I did I'd just buy a tipping L200 or similar and customise it myself. But in answer to your question I'd go for the hollow plank version as I assume its lighter than the press alu?

Had a look at your site, I'd definitely be interested in a ball park figure for an 8ft fixed bed, all ali construction, fully removable drop sides (400 to 500mm deep) to leave a totally clear tray deck, and some good size lockable & water tight ali boxes underneath, cheq plate for these please, I am the only gay in the village you know! If its within your remit a small elec to hydraulic hiab on the back. The chassis rails on my truck are up to it I'm sure there'd be others on here interested to see some numbers?

 

Most of the new breed of jap school bus trucks claim a payload in the region of 1 tonne, are are roughly 120bhp with about 180lb/ft.

 

I put 1 t pallets of briquettes in the back of my truck regularly and its down on the bump stops, 1t doesn't sound much, but when its sitting in your rear view is a lot of weight! I'm putting uprated springs on mine:laugh1: My brother has a hilux and I wouldn't put a full pallet in it. I'd like to know if anyone on here is regularly putting 1t in a L200, hilux or similar? what happens when you get to a hill?

Hello again, this morning I was thinking about what you were saying last night regarding the fold up greedy boards. I think I interpreted what you were after not quite right.

 

I'm no CAD man as you'll tell from my basic drawings (in Microsoft Word ) which I then converted to separate images and further converted to an animated GIF.

spot on mate, now all you need is the little tie downs along the edge, they are good for putting stuff on when flat and holding the tarp down when in use. well done:thumbup1:
