I can usually spot the guys who prefer to sharpen by eye and without a file handle.

 

They have a certain aura about them, something intangible, a simmering non-conformist rebellious streak....

 

And their saws are normally blunt

i dont find any particular handle stands out for me.....most of mine are orgeon wooden ones though.....if you're out in the field and stuck for a handle.....elder is good...already has the hollow in the centre for you to stick your file into.
