With the operative word here being “most” best to check the small print just in case.

i wouldnt trust just house and contents for a work related item so i have always had a sepperate insurance for work related things .

hi im new to this forum and have what i hope isn't a daft one . But lets say when im out driving the byways and i see a already blown down tree what are the rules on collecting it for fire wood ?

thanks in advance .

If it is on someones land or over their boundary, seek the owner, most will be happy with it gone. If it is on the verge/road/ verge ditch....almost everyone won't give a monkeys if it is cleared and may well think you are doing a service.

One rule - always leave the site clean, neat and tidy so nobody can complain.

That's what I do. Have a drive round after a storm. Where there's one in the road, park up sensibly, get some warning signs out and get it cut up. If there's been a severe storm and there's trees down all over the place I'm sure the contractors are glad of the help.  Leave it neat and tidy and you've performed a public service and the firewood is your reward.

Be careful. Standard £1 million pl cover is unlikely to cover you for any kind if works on the public highway.

I  never cut a tree back beyond the roadside verge and follow it across the boundary without permission. And I'd never stop and help myself to wood from a downed tree that someone else has cut up.
