A small (50cm) bit of maple that I milled was b@stard hard. Dulled chains like nothing before.

Also reading on a different thread about the unsuitability of Acer as an exterior furniture, I assume you have plans for it? 

It'll be interesting either way to see how you get on, judging by your other milling, hopes are high.

Some of the American guys I've quizzed on fb milling page rate it quite highmy, but as noted can be hard. But not as hard as Norway Maple.

Would be a shame to send it to the chipper, I've wanted this tree for milling since I reduced it 14 years ago 🤣

Like most stuff it would be internal tables etc. There are several bark areas that show there may be quilting and ripple within.

Which reminds me, must get a big Sycamore done !

it's a lovely wood if it has figure and i reckon that one will. 

 

please save it.

I'll cherry pick the best bits, see what the trunk decay is like.

But I'll be posting pictures if and when I get that far!
