Husqvarna Roller File Guide - unusable on Stihl chains?

I seem to be able to use my husqvarna roller file guide on Husqvarna chains, but not Stihl (it doesn't slip over the links), is this normal? 

 

Can I just widen the gaps to accommodate the wider links or will this change the file angle?

I don't use those guides, one thing that put me off trying is that you need a different one for each pitch and gauge of chain.

I think the problem will be that your Husqvarna chain is 0.058 gauge and the Stihl is 0.063, wider gauge meaning wider links rather than brand of chain as such.

If you widen it, it'll wobble on the narrower when you go back - not ideal.

Years ago I tried them . I think they are fine for the first few sharpens but the plastic rollers ware down dropping the file too low putting too much hook on the cutter . Standard Oregon plate type guide for me . EDIT Sorry meant to quote OLY1 " what do you use "

I've never had a problem with the rollers wearing down yet I must admit.  Just annoying that it can't be used on a stihl chain!  That said, looking at it more closely, it's for a H30 chain - which I think was the 1.3mm pixel chain, rather than the larger H25 1.5mm chain 🙄

What do you use? 

The simple Stihl or Oregon plate types that clamp to the file.
