I wasnt quiet sure where to put these but this seems like the right place.

This old ash has sadly now passed to another life, its flow now directed down an alternate path, for even in death great life is born and flows from trees.

Arson is the cause of many a vets early demise, sad to think that such a survivor has to suffer such a fate at the hands of the uneducated children of man, cant we teach our children to revere nature rather than treat it with such contempt?

To me this tree was a chapel, a place for me to go and practice my spiritual connection with the natural world, so for me this is a sad day, you may scoff at my sentimental attachments to " a rotten old tree" but many millions would be every bit incensed if I tore down their stone built churches/mosks:001_huh:

The first image taken last year, second what is left after arson, and last image the chalky remains of a Laetiporus bracket that had fruited after the arson. That is interesting on two counts, the first finding for me of Laeti on ash, and secondly, this confirms my suspicians about a connection with heat and laetiporus, including lightning:thumbup1:

nice pics

This is a great old tree we came across one day.

It's a big old oak situated in an apple orchard. Its an amazing place to go when the orchards out in flower on a sunny day, birds singing bee's buzzing. there's a lovely place that you can just nessle into at the butress of the tree, it fits you body perfectly.

It's amazing to think what the tree has seen in it's time and the people who have sat underneath it.It's still alive but has been declining over the last 10 yrs

I'm not sure how you can tell how old it is but if any one has got an idea I would love to know...... It's 36 ft around.... I think... I'll have to get the tape out again.
