advice needed will a dormar 6400 piston and sylinder fit a makita dcs 6400 and if so can you lads supply the part numbers imfo. will be of great help as i was gived a makita 6400 and piston is shoot thanks petefran

There was a Makita advertised on ebay as a DCS 6400 with a shot piston and cyl, unfortunately it was not a 6400 but a 6000 or 6800, went for £77 with a none functioning brake band, so gives you an idea of what people pay!

I think this chart is showing piston and cylinder come in 47mm, 50mm and 52mm variants for the 6400, 7300 and 7900, so the 7900 wouldn't fit on its own. 

 

It used to be possible to upgrade a 6000 to a 6800 by changing just piston and cylinder so you might still consider swapping to 7900 spec if the cylinder is shot. Most likely you'll get away with new piston and cleaning up cylinder though.

 

I can't get cylinders for 6000 and more but I did get a new piston from @shavey ajschainsaws . May be worth looking him up.

thank for the imfo very useful i will stip it down and let you know the chap that is delivering it on friday I worked on chainsaws a good while now but never a makita will try and send some pics aswell thanks again petefran.
