much lighter to use, easier on the shoulders

no noise and no pull starting,

no fumes in the face or burnt arms or clothing,

the only downside is you cant put a hedge trimmer head on the battery one( although those kind of hedges are best avoided anyway!)

our stihl one has been fine, it does feel plasticy but seems to be holding up ok, we havent had any battery issues.

not sure about price comparisons to petrol models

Ahh, yes, good points.. Never having used one i did not think about the fumes in the face and the heat of the thing.. You have a good point about the weight too. I picked one up in the shop and my god they are heavy!! Would not like to be using one all day i know that..
