I'll see if the same thing happens to the current one, if it does I'll give it a go on the next. I assume there's no definite way of knowing beforehand whether or not this process has been done wrong or testing the hardness of the different parts of the blade without particular tools/equipment.

On the band saw I used to use 30 odd years ago we had a welding facility on the saw itself ( 3 phase machiene ) You could grind a square edge on each half of the band , set the 2 edges together in the fixture , and press and hold  button . The 2 edges would fuse together under slight compression .  Then you pressed the button again  but let go before it tried to weld again if you did this a few times it glowed cherry red and you could let it down slowly , effectively annealing the joint .   I would suggest as others have that maybe you have a batch where this has not been done properly .
