Hi

Has anyone in these parts got a Tyzack bowsaw?  By all accounts they are supposed to be pretty good... I've got a chance to buy one and wondered if I could ask a coupe of questions....

1. Is there a way to check what condition it is in; anything I need to look out for?

2. Can you tension the blade, or is it one setting only?

3. Is it on par with the modern Bahco Ergo saws, or better, or worsterer?

Many thanks

One on ebay looks nice wonder if you can still get decent blades though?

Haven't seen blades like this are bacho modern ones still the  best quality etc sandvik?

Only ever used bowsaws as a volunteer and found them    awful as blades twisting etc probably never had a one properly set up blade etc.

Shorter ones may be better than 30" less twisting?

Antique Large Vintage Tree bow saw Tyzack & Sons gorgeous old saw with good cut

Some  discussions on them

I can use a panel saw to cut a straight line with no problem but always end up with 'banana' cuts with a bow saw. I am only...

I gave away may last teardrop shaped sandvik a few months ago, completely outclassed by Japanese pull saws. Even the footpath volunteer group have lashed out on Silky saws now.
