chain sharpening

hi, am after some advice, am thinking of getting a bar mounted chain sharpening kit are they any good?? can sharpen with normal file and handle but seem to get blunt quickly so come across this equipment and sounds like a good thing. thanks

no offense but if it goes blunt quickly thats down to your sharpening, no need to splash out on a bar mount thingy, just take your time and check your angles :thumbup1:

I just sharpen free hand, no file guide. Once you get used to it its just so much easier than carrying around stump vices and guides.

 

Just check your sharpening to the correct angle and everything

same, college tutors moan at me for doing it saying stuff like thats not the correct way to do it bleh bleh bleh! but i find it easier, its cheaper than buying a guides, i dont use the gauge for the rakers either, free hand all the way :thumbup1:

Exactly the same here mate, they used to hate me for it! lol

 

Bet your grandad could teach you a thing or two about sharpening chains :thumbup1:
