Tracked stump grinder? Predator 28 or 38?

I'll be looking to change my grinder soon.

I'm looking at the predator 28 or 38..

Obviously diesel is cheaper to run. But can people who run the 28 say it's ok on power and torque? Every video you see is that they bog down all.the time!

Also not sure if I can stand the noise of that Lombardi either!

What are they like for going up and down edges and flags etc in domestic gardens with ramps etc? Just thinking of the weight.

Anything to consider before I go forward with this?

Long time since I've seen one in the flesh so can't remember the overall size etc.

Many thanks

The 38 is the better machine.
The diesel is a little under powered and get bogged down.

Cheers for that. Ideally I want an upgrade.... I'm running a Vermeer 252 25hp Kohler and that thing has quite a lot of power and doesn't bog down too much.

The 35hp petrol would be the logical upgrade.

I rate the 28 as long as you keep the teeth sharp but I’ve not used a 38. Go for radio control if you can, makes getting close to walls/ fences etc much easier. You can also get out of the noise / dust better. As for access they get most places. Back up from the team at predator is always spot on in my experience.

Any of you lot running a different wheel on yours? Was thinking about a wheel set up for green teeth but I highly rate the viewer yellow jackets

I'd only have a budget of 10-12k ISH so would be looking second hand. Do the dealer's keep used stock and advertise on the internet?

I used to run a 28rx with green teeth and it was good but they're are so big and clumsy. Also would advise against buying second hand, i did and was forever checking it over or replacing bits on it. We now run the bandit sg-40 and much prefer it.

lighter, good on fuel, quiet compared to the diesel 28. Specs of the machine are a little less than the predator, cutting depth etc but if its mainly domestic work you're doing i would advise looking at it!

I have considered the bandit and do prefer it on weight but the grind depth isn't the best.

Last bandit I had I wasn't keen on... Will have to see
