only getting £40 per day

There is a difference between someone working for a living wage, looking for around the 70quid/day mark, and someone on work placement from college. The lad who comes with us on placement gets 40 a day, but fuel saw and ppe is all supplied. When his scooter breaks down, he is picked up from home and dropped off at night. We have him dragging brash, raking, fetching, carrying and so on, not to put him in his place, but its cheaper for him to fetch and carry than one of us. He gets to cut logs, when there is time to supervise him adequately, and fell trees. We are quite strict with him, we dont mince our words, but this is because we feel he has the potential to be good in the future. So I think 40quid a day for placement is about right.

i agree with this whole heartedly, but jesus, they could give the lad a scwizz of fuel!!!:001_tt2:

hi guys I'm doing the ND in arbor and part of my course i have to do 240HR of work experience, i have already got my cs30 and 31 so i got a upper hand on some of the others on my course but i got a work placement and he is only paying me £40 a day but i use my own saw and chain oil and petrol and costs me about £15 to get there and back every time i go. does anyone think this is ok or does anyone think i should be getting more???

Why dont you just man up and speak to the guy you work for instead of moaning about it on here.

Your best idea is to keep your head down and do the 240 hours

don't rock the boat and lose your placement

You are being paid to learn as well as do the work so make the most of this and learn as much as you can

Maybe don't take your saw & fuel to work and use his ( tell him yours is broken)

he should provide you with PPE and equipment that you need to work
