Any Comments on Jensen A340?

HELP!

We are half way through refurbing our old A425 Jensen and have come across what seems to be a good deal in a A340..... The A425 'big brother'

Has anyone got any reviews or past events to put them off or anything good for it? Can't find much online about them which is a tad worrying.

It seems heavy and numb but this would be our third Jensen so we know what their like! Cheers.

I used a tracked one and owned a 328 for around 6 years which is very similar size to 340 (I don’t know what’s difference between)

Good solid machine, no major breakdowns while we had it and it’s still going strong for current owners.

must have 4000 hours on it by now.

good on woody stuff, a bit annoying the way small branches stick on the left hand side and a little bit high for feeding.

lads always preferred feeding tw230

for most stuff unless too big or woody

Hi Thanks for this,

Yes used Jensen alot and very reliable and over built...... It wouldn't be our day to day chipper but would come out on 'big jobs' so less brash and more wood so pretty ideal by the sounds of it, cheers again.

I have run one for close to 10 years.

Bullet proof machine, like soc sayes a bit annoying when bits get stuck on the side of the feed roller.

Best used being machine fed by a small digger.

Take the belts off and check for play in the bearings, its a hard job to change them.

If the price is right and you have a use for it just buy it.

Yes I think this is a job our fitter got wrong on the tracked 340 and subsequently the bearings didn't last, so the machines were sold. The chipper always seemed very good the few times I used it. I think the outer shell of the bearings were proprietary to Jensen which made them expensive. If I were involved again I think I would pay the dealer to do it right.
