cheers dave:thumbup1:i cant bring myself to buy a good camera, i am scared i will break it, those pics have given me the motivation to go hunting later on for some shrooms, its wet and horrible today but mild compared to last week, will this mean there are some new finds to be had?:001_smile:

Theres plenty to find out there even in the snow melt, got soaked today but it was monumental, with the emphasis on mental! had a realy good day out.

dont need a mega bucks camera, most of mine is done on a £150 lumix compact, 12 mega pixels, and it suits me well, even carry it up a tree from time to time, clipped on the back of the harness its well out of the way.

As a mycophobe in a mycophilic thread, would I be right in assuming that the gravitropic nature of this mycelium suggests photophobia and necrotrophism ? :thumbup1:

Gravitropic? i think you meant geotropism/gravitational orientation of fruit body formation. no it isnt a geotropic thing. though it does seem to enhance the thread formation, i think this is due to this "stage" which i am convinced is an asexual stage.

Photophobic, only in this form IME?

and it is a saprobe, though it does have some, empasis on the some, capacity to be parasitic.

OOOOOoooo i love it when it gets technical! forces me to up my game!

Don't blame me mate, got my gravitropism off Tony, I'm sure your geotropism is right. The necrotrophism one , I made it up. You have an advantage as your'e hitting the books at the moment, and this is your niche area. Was just playing around, sorry I can't easily get into looking all this up (everything in storage) as I have either forgotten, or didn't know in the first place. I will now look up saprobe on tinternet.
