You not got a local mill that will take it- you should get some good money for it mate- better than firewood and if its close enough for you to get it there you can have the delivery costs too!

nothing close that needs anything just now mate, i will keep it for myself, maybe even mill it or for something someday, how long can it sit for before it needs milled tom?

swb. there was or still is a mill over Alexandria way that took european larch for veneer, haulage kills half loads......would make good firewood/kindlers

with firewood at £240 a ton, i know what i will be doing with it

I milled some jap larch last year that had been on the ground ages, touch it and the bark fell away with ease, and some of it we had to dig out of the undergrowth where it had been stuck. The timber was fantastic. That stuff doesnt rot mate.

get it on bearers out of the sun and it'll be happy for a good few years

Larch is great stuff for outdoor building, very rot resistant. I build my greenhouse out of it, I have never treated it.

If it doesn't hang around it'll make you decent money. EDIT: yes, better than firewood

 

Talk to local builders, chippies (woodworkers not fish friers ) and landscapers, get some orders before you crosscut to length if possible. See if anyone outdoorsy wants bits for a mega pergola, treehouses, cabins, or raised veg beds seats and planters, which are very popular at the moment. You might find someone locally doing a house refurb who'll be keen on beams and cladding, windor and door sillss, maybe a staircase, larch framed garage.Talk to your local school- they might be keen to grow their own fruit and veg and do outdoor education.
