Chipper power

Anybody converted a lorry to power a chipper ,want to free the tractor up,it’s a static chipper in a yard.

I've seen it done. We have seen a few large 4x4 type trucks powering a wood chipper. You need a power take off output on the gearbox as well as some rear end black smithery and away you go! In fact, I know of one sat in a yard not far from Leeds.

 

All you need is money, imagination and necessity.

If it’s static you’d find it much easier to fit a skid unit. If you have three phase on site that’s a simple way to do it depending upon power required.

If pto chipper should be easy to power with lorry. 

Depends on how much hp you need but timber yard near me used old David brown and other small tractors to drive bits of machinery they had no tin work or wheels and mounted in frames so they could move them about with forklift.

Thinking of cutting lorry down to engine and box ,have machine Shop make a pto fitting to bolt to gearbox .

it would need a hand clutch and think it would run in reverse gear for correct direction would have to check ratio.

am I missing much?
