Carving for yourself

When someone asks me to carve something I never have a problem working through the commission- motivation/inspiration/completion to deadline, never an issue.  I really struggle to get anything done without that impetus,  I've just salvaged a huge oak bough, maybe 100ft of round-wood timber of all shapes and sizes from 2ft diameter to 2 inches can't think of a single blessed thing I want to carve. How do you get motivated/inspired?
