Hahahahaha. I planted orange acer tree seeds myself.

A few weeks in I noticed some green shoots but also some soil bugs. So I changed the compost. Pulled these out as had good roots. Binned seeds that didn't take.

Didn't think to look for the seeds these roots came from which means I binned all the seeds with old compost. The old compost had this reed/grass in.

Hahahaha. Feel so stupid. It was some type of grass when I pulled it out and cleaned the roots.

I wanted to grow one as I have a red acer doing quite well and a green (not doing as well).

Keep it in the shade slightly larger pot than you would normally use better if it’s deeper use John inness ericacious compost soil based with added composted bark and water with rain water if you are in hard water area, this will give it the best chance

if germinating acer seeds put the in damp compost in the fridge for a month before planting makes them germinate better.
