might be the 2 halves are not perfect, which is why I used that laser level I showed you.

a planer might be quicker if you have a big enough one cos even after taking to time to get it perfect a great big lump of a tree can offset it. if it is going to be fixed in one place I would strengthen the joint. I was going to do that before I decided to sell.

If you're off 1/8" and thats one click of the handle then I'd put money on that being the issue. I'd not worry about it either if you can pass it through a planer in 2 years time. The amount of movement, ie cupping, warping, cracking you'll be getting during the drying process 3mm will be neither here nor there.
