What is the biggest saw that would still "suit" 0.50 over the 0.58?

60cc?

What  are the disadvantages  sawdust/chip clearance from cut  bar durability?

I run 050 on my 550 and 562. The chain speed in the wood and smoothness in the cut, especially when bore cutting is better than 058 in my opinion. I use Sugihara light type bars from Rob D as they are stiff and durable even in the narrower kerf. I found the narrow kerf Oregon speedcut bars pretty durable for the money but don’t rate the speed cut chain that marries up with the bar, I use Husqvarna SP33 instead.

In 2020, Stihl will release a new saw chain with a .325” pitch and a 1.3 mm gauge. The name is Stihl RS or RM, with the...

For the 562 did you have  you change the  sprocket?

Yeah, I found it a bit sluggish/clunky on 3/8 compared to the 560 so switched it all to .325.

I use Stihl RM in 058 quite a bit on my 346’s for cutting chestnut coppice, it is a very durable all purpose chain, holds its edge very well.

I bet that RS Pro on 050 will perform fantastic in a stand of softwood, I’ll be giving that a go.

Using a husky chain on my 346 atmo not the newest hooting n hollering one (orange n white'sh box)cuts pretty good thats 325 058 looking at the .50 to try out with new bar Sugi pro lam 15" and the Oregon 95TXL

Must admit really liking using 050 ( 1.1mm, for some reason metric guages make more sense to me)

On my husky 353 on just a husky bar and chain and really can't fault it

Chains last well too
